The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research organized a celebration on the occasion of the Science Day of Iraq, to ​​announce the results of the Science Day competition for the year 2019, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education Professor Dr. Qusay Al-Suhail, and with the participation of academic elites from various Iraqi universities, and in the presence of Mr. Deputy Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs Dr. Fouad Qasim Muhammad, and Mr. General Director of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Ghassan Hamid.


The celebration included reading Surat Al-Fatihah on the lives of the martyrs of Iraq, playing the national anthem, and honoring universities and teaching staff who won the results of the competition.


The Undersecretary of the Minister of Higher Education for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Fouad Qasim, said that Al-Karkh University of Science, despite being a new university, had achieved the second rank among the newly-established universities of Iraq, thanks to its scientific accomplishments and the publication of research, creativity, innovations and patents, which are all results of Al-Karkh University of Science excellence.


For his part, the Director General of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Ghassan Hamid, said that the distinguishing sign of this year's Science Day celebration is the presence of new universities, including the Al-Karkh University of Science;despite the short time of establishing these universities, they have proven to be present and have a clear influence thanks to the good departments in those Universities and thanks to the efforts of their teaching staff.


The President of the University, Professor Thamir A. A Hasan, congratulated the university for the achievement, stressing the readiness of Al-Karkh University of Science to achieve more progress during the current academic year, in research and scientific efforts.
