A delegation from Al-Karkh University of Science headed by the Chancellor of the University, Prof. Dr. Thamir A.A. Hassan, visited the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine accompanied by the Vice-Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Raaid Nawfee Hassan, the Dean of the College of Remote Sensing and Geophysics, Dr. Kamal Muhammad Abboud, and a group of students of the fourth stage of the college, The visit was for the Cultural Forum For university students, which is part of the Youth National Sponsor Project for the Abbasid Holy Shrine.
The Chancellor of the university said in a speech on this occasion, “the al-Abbas's holy shrine is making great efforts for the university student in order to raise his/her cultural and academic level, and we will work to invest this cooperation between us and crystallize it in a way that serves the educational process. I invite universities to benefit from these activities and events organized by the shrine.”
Dr. Thamir added that “what we have witnessed of a very large response by those in charge of this program to receive university students is a cause for pride, and we have a feeling that there is a real work characterized by organization and management aimed at serving the country and its people, and we hope that this cooperation will continue between us. We will work on crystallizing new ideas that we will discuss in the University Council in a way that serves our scientific career. Thanks to the shrine and those in charge of it for giving them this opportunity.”
For his part, the media coordinator of the Shrine, Mr. Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said that this program is within the cultural forum for university students, which is part of the National Sponsor Youth Project, and this week we received a student delegation from Al-Karkh University of Science in Baghdad Governorate, and after welcoming them and giving them an overview and explanation of the objectives of this forum, we embarked on implementing the curriculum of the program. It lasted for five days and included many and varied points that began with a collective visit to the shrine of Imam Hussein and his brother Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them both)”
He added: "We organized a scientific trip for Al-Saqi Palm Farms, where they were briefed on the quality of the soil and the mechanisms used in agriculture. After that, a visit was organized for them to a number of historical monuments in the holy province of Karbala, such as Al-Ukhaidir Fortress and Al-Tarar, to be concluded with a visit to the Al-Afaf Shopping Complex and the City of the Guardians of the Prophet".
Al-Kazemi continued: “We paid great attention to the educational aspect within this forum, as a number of lectures were given to students in the Imam al-Hassan hall (peace be upon him) at the al-Abbas's holy shrine. It focused on how to develop the personality and fortify it intellectually, and how to be an active student in his/her university milieu, as well as the development of national culture and love of the homeland and their roots.”
The students and university professors, in turn, expressed their profound thanks and gratitude to the al-Abbas's holy shrine, for providing them with this opportunity, which they described as useful that achieved what they aspired to, hoping that it will be repeated in the coming days. They called on students from other universities to benefit from such programs.
